It's a nice little house, in a nice little neighborhood.I own George Bailey's home. Everyday I walk into my castle and the banister knob comes off in my hand. Or the back door sticks. Or you have to wiggle the dishwasher door just so, to get it to shut.My dad has told me this is character.If this is true, my house has the character of a 90 year-old, pack-a-day since he was 9, quadruple by-pass, old man.But I do love my house.It is a 1911 (or 1916 depending on who I ask) bungalow. It's currently covered in board and baten siding, which covers the original lap board siding. Both will eventually have to go.My neighbors would like me to put new siding on, but since my door-to-door fundraiser
was unsucessful it's just going to get painted. In five years, it will be re-sided.This site is for entertainment purposes only. I believe people will get a good chuckle out of my journey into home repair. It would be a shame not to share it with the world or at the very least with those who are too far away to come and help with painting.There are videos, photos and (hopefully)witty journal entries to accompany every project.You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll wonder what I was thinking and it will all be good.

Why is it that when you realize you finally have a forum where you can say anything, you find you have nothing to say? Maybe this doesn't happen to everyone, but it definitely is happening to me. No one knows about this page, I didn't put the blog public on Blogger, and I'm not burning to advertise this page to anyone . . .so why then when I sit to write do I censor myself to the point of a gag order? I've got a relatively clever name for the page. Maybe I should just be in the business of making clever names . . . probably make the big bucks that way. Maybe I should just let a random stream of consciousness piss itself out.Looks like it just did.

First this guy named Adam threw in the towel. Now Meg has decided she no longer has anything to say.How am I supposed to be Perceived as Cool Without Going through the Mucky Muck of Actually Being Cool Which We All Know Requires Much Too Much Effort to Possibly Be Worth the Trouble when everyone keeps taking my examples of good web stuff away.I hope they come back.

I'm looking for a book.I read it when I was little.I don't know the name and I don't know who wrote it, but my memory from being four years-old could still pick it out of a line-up.What's a girl to do?Use Amazon?Sure you could use Amazon and see a title that looks like it could be the one, but there is no picture, so where's that get you.Use Metacrawler, Dogpile?Sure you could use them, but they aren't going to give you any pages with images of the cover of the book (which by the way was published in 1969 by Golden Books and is since out of print).But if this was a smart girl, a determined girl, an obsessed girl, she would remember the words of web Yoda when he mentioned somet
hing, sometime about Google being good and the she would discover that some people care enough to make sure the information they put on the web is as complete as possible.I think everyone on the web should go to Loganberry Books. Standards. They sure seem to make people upset. So here are my thoughts on the whole browser upgrade campaign that WaSP has started. Note: you'll only get my point if you are using a browser that is not standards compliant.  I don't mind you telling me your site would look more splendid in a standards compliant browser,
but to say I can't look at it at all . . .well, kind of goes against what I understand WaSP to be. If the beauty of standards and style sheets and all of that jazz is to seperate design from content, then why can't I choose to look at your content without your design??? Maybe I just don't get it.I'm working on making my site standards compliant. I want to do it because it makes my life easier. But I'll still have my content available to those who use older browsers. It just won't be gussied up.

I'm beginning to think that it is possible for a person's head to explode.For three years, I worked in an office who's motto was, "Build for the lowest common denominator". We did. But in the process of trying to keep up with the daily site updates, there wasn't a whole lot of time to expand one's knowledge about the "bleeding edge" that was pooling around me.Pardon me, I have to stick my nose back in a book/website.

I'm still wishing I'm cool, but more importantly I'm wishing I had direction. I moved to the Pacific NW a year and a half ago. I love it here. It is incredible. I ran a marathon in the year 2000. I'm considering training for another in 2001. But something is off. It's a fogginess in my brain and thinking that just isn't cool. Maybe writing here will get rid of that fog. I'd hate to think I had a brain cloud.
